2011 Pasadena Marathon Postponed
The Kaiser Permanente Pasadena Marathon is being rescheduled. We are still working out all the details, but wanted to get the word out as soon as we could.
As you know, our inaugural event was scheduled to occur in November 2008. This date was selected because it fell within the optimal timeframe for the Pasadena Marathon to occur for that year and in subsequent years. Our rescheduling of the event, due to hazardous conditions presented by wildfires, forced us to book the soonest possible new date for our “Inaugural Redux,” which was in March 2009. However, we have always felt that early spring wasn’t where we wanted to be permanently.
We feel that November is the ideal month for our city’s marathon, and we have requested approval of a November date from the City of Pasadena. However, due to other scheduling considerations, the City is unable to accommodate our request for a fall date at present. We will be meeting with City representatives early next week to discuss a new date for the event, and we have high hopes of securing a date for the Pasadena Marathon that is amenable to all parties not just for 2011, but for the life of the event.
So, stayed tuned! As we get more details and work out all logistics, we will update our website and announce the new date. We love our runners, appreciate our participants, and value our volunteers. If you have registered for the February date, please keep an eye on your email and our website for details about how to roll over your registration, or what to do if you can’t make the rescheduled date to obtain a full refund. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience that this might have caused.
We appreciate your continued support of the Kaiser Permanente Pasadena Marathon.
Sincerely,
Israel Estrada
